Why do you require copies of these documents for firearm sales ?

your current PAL (firearms license - both the front & back);
bullet

your current Drivers License (front & back) to confirm identity and address;
And these answers

the purpose for which the firearm is being acquired ( indicate either
"target shooting" or "collection");
bullet

the name of the gun club of which you are a member (if not a gun club
member please indicate);

Is it not up to the CFC to determine identities and eligibilty for ownership ?

For business transfers the CFC now eliminates the step of contacting the buyer IF the business has:

A) "Confirmed" the indentity of the purchaser (a copy of the drivers license is accepted by CFC as doing this);

B) For a restricted firearm - if we can tell CFC the purpose for which it is being purchased ie: Collecting or Target/Competition shooting

C) If the above answer is for target shooting then the name of the gun club to which the puchaser belongs.

If we give the CFC all these answers when we call in the transfer then they immediately forward it to the provincial CFO for final approval and CFC doesn't have to wait and talk to the purchaser at all. It simply speeds up the process.

If you prefer to do it yourself that's fine... but along with the PAL we'd need a second piece of government ID showing your address (the PAL doesn't give that info).

Coltfan,

I agree, since when does it say you need to be a driver in order to purchase a firearm !!!

ANd why do I have to justify what I do with my assets. What i do with my fir arms is my own business no one else.

PAL is all that is required nothing else!

Questar

Guys... don't "shoot the messenger" :(

We only follow the guidelines set down by the CFO and the CFC.

They tell us that we have to see your PAL, confirming the name, number, expiry date, authorization to acquire the type of firearm being purchased, etc.. Hence we need a readable copy of both sides of the license as proof that the information was supplied to us.

In addition we are told to get a 2nd piece of government ID (confirming the address which is not on your PAL and is required so that we can ship the firearm to you after the transfer is completed). They suggest a Driver's License but any other governement ID will do.

As for the other "questions" it simply speeds the transfer process. If you prefer we can start the transfer and then have you contact the CFC directly. They will hold the transfer application until they've spoken to you and once you call them they will ask you to prove your identity, the purpose of your handgun purchase and the name of your gun club.

Oh...thanks.....it sounds like they put the onus on the dealer as far as identity goes....

PS Nice price on the Baby Eagles.....you can't be making much profit on those.....

We don't... our primary business is not "Retail" sales. To introduce ourselves to the "Retail Civilian Market" we're essentially offering items at $50 to $100 over Canadian dealer book cost. We have access to a wide array of firearms so if there's something you've been looking for send us an e-mail and we'll try to save you some money.

Our real speciality is importing specialty items on your behalf... the stuff that no-one else has or wants to handle.

The SP21 has a 3.9" (99mm) barrel length and is not legal for import to Canada for the civilian market.

You can do anything... if you have enough time and money :)

You can have a custom barrel built and installed... that would make the gun legal for import, however, the cost would probably make this gun less attractive to you. Figure around $300 (estimate) for a 106 mm barrel. Add that and the import fee to the cost of the gun and it's getting quite pricey... how bad do you want one?

The question is rhetorical :)

No plans to stock them, but we can order one in for you. It would take about 8 to 10 weeks to get the barrel made, process the export permits and get the gun here.

It's here he says and then makes me drool by sending me a picture knowing I have to wait until after Christmas to pick it up..
**I'm uploading the pic but at 64K (satellite is a little slow) it's going to take a while

But how's this for turn around;
He didn't have the IIC or the US export permits..
The barrel had to be made and it's not a normal catalog item..
then he had to get it added to the FRT as this is the first non-prohibited Glock 33 in Canada...

in less then a month... I ordered it on November 22nd

Is the G19 restricted or prohib.

Normally the Glock 19 is a "Prohibited" firearm in Canada, however, the ones we import have custom ~ 106mm barrels and are registered as "Restricted" handguns.

If you have a PAL with "Restricted" rating you can purchase one of these.

I kinda like the G19 w/o the threaded bbl. Do barrels come in black by chance? I like my G17, but a G19 would be even nicer... even if the barrel sticks out a little bit.

On the G19 (or the G23), the barrel is only 4mm to 5mm longer than a stock barrel, so you can barely notice the additional length visually. On the G26 (and the G27) the 106mm barrels are noticably longer, but they still look good.

As for how they shoot I'm not sure what you mean exactly. They don't "feel" any different... but they will be more accurate than the stock barrels because of the better fit.

The BarSto barrels have an excellent reputation in the industry. Extremely accurate, very well contructed.

We have a few of the Glock 19's with 106mm BarSto barrels in stock right now. We also have two Glock 26's with FedArms Ported barrels in stock. There is one Glock 27 with 106mm BarSto barrel left in stock.

No... the guns are brand new from Glock. The stock barrels are removed and the custom barrels are "fit" to the slide (and frame). Fitting is done by modifying the barrel... not the gun. The slide and frame are never modified in any way.

Then the guns are packed up and shipped to Canada. That's it.

Guns come with 2 mags, lock, cleaning brush, manual, etc..

Mark, you mentioned a "better fit" for the Barsto barrels, is this fit tighter than the standard Glock barrel? I am concerned about reliability more than accuracy.
I am considering purchasing the G19.

Ahab, yes the Bar-Sto barrel does have a tighter fit then the stock Glock barrel. FWIW I have not see any reliablility problems with my G19 shooting factory ammo.

I just got back from the range with my g-26 with barsto purchased from Questar. With the g-26 mags it was 100% reliable with 250 rounds fired. With g-19 mags (some old style followers) it was not reliable. That is okay with me though I'll stick with g-26 mags.

No problem to make a custom ~106mm barrel for the Springfield XD's. As far as I know the Beretta can be done as well.

Price on the Springfield barrel is $289.00 plus fitting (should be negligable)...

Not sure what the price on the Beretta would be.

I don't suppose you have a price tag on the XD Service & PX4 pistol itself before the barrel mod?

You would need to be much more specific (actual model numbers are best). Springfield offers two compact versions of the XD (4" and 3") in a variety of calibers and sight options. All have different pricing. You need to be specific what it is you want before I can work out pricing.

The PX4 would run @ $849.00 plus the barrel costs.
