The 74A number is the WMU - Wildlife Management Unit (hunters need to know what WMU they are hunting in since each each WMU can have different hunting season start and end dates and different regulations); the MNR has detailed maps of each of the WMUs here:
    http://www.ontario.ca/environment-an...t-unit-wmu-map
    (Short link: http://goo.gl/jLI44g)
There is also a small map in the annual guide that the MNR publishes...here is a link to that: Ontario Hunting Regulations Summary (see pages 12-17 in the 2014 guide).
The Ontario Hunter Education program covers this, FYI.
So to get back to this after months and months, the MNR people have been particularly unhelpful. They say they'll call you back they never do, they always seem standoffish and never answer questions, it basically feels impossible to get an answer out of these people. I've been frustrated for 6 months trying to get some kind of response/information from them...so annoying.

Great post. Really helped to understand the land. But still a question, next year I want to hunt, am I allowed to go lets say south of Timmins and hang a tree stand and wait, there is no risk of bumping at another hunters or invading "taken" land for the season?
    Anyway, very good job.
Thanks for the time you spent explaining this.

Looks like a lot of residential or recreation properties around the area.

Thank you. I feel mnr makes their site and resources difficult to use for hunters. It not quick and easy.
