The reality is there is nothing cheap about an SKS. They were "inexpensive" because of the unimaginable surplus availability. If a modern manufacturer were to build these rifles according to original spec they'd be a $1000.00 plus rife at retail. As the availability becomes less and less the real value of the SKS will be reflected. Those of us who stocked up and ignored the ignorant comments about the SKS being cheap are sitting back with smiles on our faces.

Did they figure they were the only game in town with what is happening with Russia and Ukraine? Was there a reason behind the increase?

At best, they're greedy. At worst, they've thought of a more military use for those rifles. The Chinese government has been rumbling about "taking back" Taiwan and Japan's southern islands for a while now. You know, to liberate them. The fact that there's massive amounts of oil and natural gas in the region has nothing to do with it. Then there's those crackpots in North Korea who still think China is their friend...

Should have included that China wouldn't be arming their front line troop with SKS's. If they were used, they'd probably hand them out to their lesser trained forces for spoiling raids, guard duty, or wherever else both the rifle and the guy carrying it are necessary but expendable.

    No regrets here.

I bought a lot of them when they were at 149$

They're obviously planning on retrofitting them with Tapco Intrafuse stock with 30 round duckbill mags and attack Anchorage, Alaska. Ingenious really, they won't need to resupply, they can just pick up the duckbill mags from dead Muricans as they go.
