But since it's a post 1947 design (5.56mm) it wouln't be covered by the same belt length exemption as the older guns such as the 1919, M2, MG34, MG42, etc.
It would be limited to use 5 rounds "belts" (or pieces of belt). Kinds of defeat the purpose of a belt-fed gun.

I'd be a wee bit skeptical of a chinese M249 design performing overly well with STANAG magazines.
But damn . . . if it were a reality: I'd sell my soul to make sure I got one.
this would be freaking awesome ! i got to shoot an m249 last year and man was that awesome
the us navy m249 can use mags !
