    New 1897

    Hi,

Anyone who has ordered one of the new 1897 clones have any feedback on fit/finish and functionality of the new shotgun?

    Cheers,

I let you know how it functions after this weekend. Fit and finish for a $450 gun is excellent

Are these better quality than the old Norinco ones? Reading that those had a high failure rate. (FTF, broken parts)

Fit and finish is good for a knock off, blueing is a bit patchy on the top of my receiver but nothing I can't live with. Wood is excellent, nice grain and the recoil pad works well.
4 rounds of skeet with it - to test function and not one problem. It was a dream to shoot, low recoil with 7 1/2 target loads, points nice and the action gets smoother with every round chambered. My action slides like butter now! The choke that came with it measured in between a mod and IC and was not concentric. Added 4 chokes, full, mod ,IC, and rifled sabot/slug choke to make it more versatile. around great deal for the price, THANKS MARSTAR !!!

I took the chokes to a local gun store and matched it up to Baikal. $15 per choke, same thread pitch and length. The rifled choke is a Tru-choke, again perfect fit and I can now shoot sabots.
Tru-choke is 44 tpi so any choke with that thread pitch and length/shoulder dimensions will work.
