Umm... correct me if I am wrong...

This "LSW" version is a Type 97 with an extended heavy barrel...

plus it would be nearly impossible to find ammo for the 5.8x42mm chinese round

Even if someone decided to make a request for import, I don't think they will be calling it "Light Support Weapon" because classing system would take 1 look and said: "It's Auto"

Just spend the $1000+ on a Type 97 NSR and buy the upgrades. It will definitely not cost over $3000

    Another side note:

The QBU-88 is a whole different beast/rifle all together.

*Have had hands-on experience with both the Type 97 & 88 DMR*

    Sorry, but you're incorrect.

    QBZ means Assault Rifle
    QBB means Light Machine Gun
95 means 1995, when they started producing the 5.8mm weapon family for use by the Chinese Armed Forces
97 means 1997, when they started producing the 5.56mm weapon family based on the 1995 family for foreign buyers

QBB 97 LSW therefore uses the 5.56mm

Second, QBB has a different lower handguard, upper handguard, fire selector, and also barrel assembly+bipod compared to the QBZ. It's not just "an extended heavy barrel" as you claim.

Unless you've shot the rifles in a Chinese army base, you didn't shoot the "88 DMR". What you most likely shot was the KBU-97 rifle, the 5.56 variant of the QBU-88.

I d echo that . A 5.56 t88 is nothing compared to the real thing.

Would be definately interested if it came with a pinned drum and cost closer to the T97 price range rather than the QBU 88 price

In all honesty, I can almost guarantee that NS will not bring this in. It is kind of redundent, and very few would actually buy one if it did land.

In my opinion the only way you are going to get one in canada is take the T97NSR and to the "necessary" mods to make it a clone much the same as people do with HK SL8's and USC's.
