The Chiappa site states the barrel and bolt are steel, which leads me to believe every other part is plastic.

I think that this is the same rifle?

This reviewer says that the trigger guard, rear and front sights and the bayonet lug are all plastic.

This reviewer has the .22 version. I found some more information here, have a look: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2...l-information/

Is one version appreciably lighter than the other?

This is very tempting. I have fallen in love with my Girsan pistol and having a carbine that uses the same mags is too awesome.

Pretty freaking cool for under $500. And my slew of Beretta mags will fit. Even having a CX4 I think I might try these out.

This is rather amazing news - been looking for a 9mm carbine that takes pistol mags.

Actually the Beretta 92 9mm mags are actually better.

Beretta 96 mags (40s&w) legally feed 13-14 rounds of 9mm. So therefor, so does this.

Let me know when they sell it in .45acp with a mag that looks the same

Sweet deal, too bad about the plastic parts but still sounds like a great bargain

Pretty much the only thing plastic is the bayonet lug.
