    Convincing a parent...

    Hi all,

I tried searching for a similar topic, but couldn't find anything.

I just got my PAL, but I've run into a roadblock. My mom doesn't want guns in the house. I've tried convincing her with the usual arguments, but nothing's worked. My mom isn't really an anti, she just doesn't like/isn't comfortable around guns. It took me 3 years just to get her to let me store airsoft guns in the house.

She's said I can store them the garage, but I'm not comfortable with that option as our garage is detached, 50 years old, and the door's lock hasn't worked since we moved in.

I can also store them at a friends house, but it just wouldn't be the same.

Moving out also isn't feasible(broke student).

Any ideas for what I could do to convince her? Anyone else been in a similar situation with a parent or spouse?

    Thanks

Start your carpentry apprenticeship hours and fix the garage.

Sounds like she didn't know you were even getting your lisc.
If you aren't tinkering with them, and they're NR, no reason to not just store them with a friend for now until you think of something else/move out. You don't need to be taking them out to play with around the house.

I usually say - "Get a job hippie"...

Get "on your feet", move out, be a man.

When I was your age my momma told me not to get a tattoo of Roy Orbison....

What momma don't know won't hurt her.

Your Mom's house. Her rules! If you're old enough to have a PAL then you're old enough to move out

Have you tried offering to double lock them, trigger locks in a locked hard case, and that you wouldn't fondle them anywhere but the range and the ammo will be locked up seperately in a fire proof box?

Replace the locks on the garage, it's easy, and get a trail cam and set it up as a discreet video system so if anything where to happen you'd get stills of it atleast, and chain whatever case or box your using to something big and heavy.

Or get a used coke machine and hollow it out, it would be an awesome safe.
