    Shooting Restricted Firearms outside ranges

Can you legally shoot a restricted firearm on crown or private property?
I know you have to have an ATT. Sorry if its an obvious question

    No. You cannot.

Yes you can, provided you have an approved range on your private property.

Getting an ATT to crown land is a very tricky and usually very painful.

TV-PressPass is the only one I know of who has done it, and the ATT specified that he could only shoot blanks and not live ammo.

It is possible to get an ATC if you have a wilderness job, but from what I have seen most of those forbid target shooting and say it can only be used for protection from animals.

I should have added that too. I believe he was only asking about the basic "at the farm" scenario though.

The title of the thread and question is "outside of ranges" so an approved private range doesn't apply.

And there is what Stevebot-7 said too... but I don't think that applies here either.

    No, nope, nada, nil, ziltch!
    Forget about it!
Restricted at approved ranges only. Dumb, I know! Always thought it was stupid I can shoot a .22 rifle in the woods but not a .22 handgun. The round has a higher velocity through a rifle than a handgun so, theoretically more dangerous!

Sorry, but I have to ask this question: Why would anyone go through the trouble of getting an ATT so they can only shoot blanks?

Does TV-press pass train bird hunting dogs?

    curious
Canadian government runs on trans, gays and French speaking women. Let them fight the next war over there.

I think for effect on his videos. Weird though, never saw any blank attachments on his guns. Didn't think blanks can cycle an action without a blank attachment to achieve the pressure needed to cycle properly.

It was for one of his videos. I think he brought out his Famae Mini SAF or something like that, and a bunch of people promptly had seizures over the fact that he was "shooting" a restricted firearm on crown land.
