Modern Advancements in LR shooting - Bryan Litz

Got the new book here. Very interesting. More math then the last but it is not over the top... and there are summaries that lets you understand the concept if you are not a math person.

Great sections on internal and external ballistics that expand on his previous books. Lots and lots of real world testing.

The emphasis is heavy on understanding the flight and tools needed to hit at LR like hunting and tactical shooting.

A large section of the book is tied to testing the tools we use to figure out our LR firing solutions - Chronies, rangefinders, wind speed, etc.

Definitely a must have if you are into LR shooting.

Intro price $45 plus ship and tax.

    I have them instock now.

Is this the section the book should be listed in?

I don't see anything in that category, and a search for "brian litz" doesn't give any results.

How do you find this compares to 'Prone & Long Range Rifle Shooting' by Nancy Tompkins? Enough different information to compliment?

Is this an extension of the first book or an updated version? Just want to know if I need to buy both or just the new one.
    Thanks.

Nancy's book is a great overall look at the sport of High power shooting. from gear, to loading, to wind reading, to match prep. It is an overview of the sport and tips to get involved.

The Litz book is a technical book specific to those who want to understand what happens when the bullet leaves the muzzle and how to optimise LR performance.

It is not sport specific but LR shooting specific. It offers a wide range of useful info to cover topics that LR techies think about.

It is an expansion of the earlier Applied ballistics books. Think of the AB as grade school. This is getting into High School so really discusses the fine points in more details and starts to explore current thoughts on how to maximize all parameters for LR and ELR shooting.

It is a very good addn to the series.

Thanks Jerry. I'll have to grab a copy in the near future. Still digesting much (much!) other information.
