Just picked up a trophy hunter XP myself, then went looking online at custom stocks and a lot of them have a warning saying "Will not fit new Savage Rifles with bolt release in the trigger guard"

Not sure if the same issue exists for the axis II.

Go on Boyds and you will find a sweet stock shipped for less than $200 bucks, I purchased my Model 11 through SFRC in 223 and its quite accurate. Also got my Law Enforcement Series model 10. BOOM

Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe the Axis is not a short action - it will be a lighter, more compact rifle if 11.

Most stock mfrs make stocks for both center feed and staggered feed models.

savage 111 has a floating barrel, verses the axis, only difference would be if there you were to put 100 rounds through it the axis II would heat up at little faster effecting the accuracy, but you would never put 100 rounds through your rifle when your deer hunting other then that they are pretty much identical
