    There's no definitive answer because the laws regarding it are worded much too vaguely to be useful. My interpretation is that yes, it's a locked container specifically designed to hold firearms... So it's no different than a vault or safe... Vault and safe aren't really defined either.

    O Rly? What law do you base that on? Remember we are talking storage, not display. It's specifically designed for the safe storage of firearms.

    You can do the same with a lot of cabinets/safes.
