    Sako?

    Any idea if it is possible to get a sako 85 varmint in .243?

    Why would you want a .243 when the .22-250 is available? It shoots great, easy to reload and has the ability to reach out further than the .243. The only thing is it is a really heavy gun, but this does make the recoil feel really light.

    Could be because with the same bullet weight the 243 delivers more energy than .22-250.

    Could be because he wants to use larger bullets (> 100 grains).

    Could be because he wants to convert to .243 AI for even more speed and better reloading.

    Could be because he has reloading dies for .243 and brass.

    Could be because he has a rifle in .22-250.

    Could be because he prefers .243 for any reason.

    Alberta has a min of 243 for game is the most likely answer.

    Edit- unlawful to hunt big game with "ammunition of less than .23 caliber"

    Ah, learn something new everyday. No size limit in BC, just has to be centre fire.

    Same here in Saskatchewan, we can't shoot any big game animal with less than a 243 round.
