We are happy to see these! The Mk 25 and Mk 25 Desert have proven to be, consistently, the most popular of the P226 line for us and it's really no secret as to why: they are by far the most durable, hardest working SIG pistols on the market today, suitable to use in any condition -- even our rainy, wet, and humid Pacific coast region!
Beginning in the 1980s, the US special operations community's love affair with the SIG 226 family began after seeing it in the hands of Germany's world-renowned special forces units. Though the regular forces of the US military never got their hands on the P226 as a widespread general issue arm, the top echelon of units quickly adopted it on air, land, and sea. Since then, the P226 has gone through numerous evolutions thanks to feedback from these units, beginning with the transition of the the P226 to the P226 Navy in the 90s. This upgraded model would be available at last in the early 2000s for civilian shooters, with its upgraded stainless slide and barrel, water-resistant Nitride finish on slide and frame, and anchor engraving. The next step was from the Navy to the Mk 25 in recent years, providing the commercial market with an exact copy of the pistol issued to the US Navy SEAL teams down to the smallest detail, including UID label, tritium night sights, and the inclusion of the Nitride finish on the internal components. The latest addition to the US military P226 line is the Mk 25 Desert, which adds an anti-corrosive flat dark earth coating designed to blend in with arid backgrounds and camouflage patterns as part of the the US military's current overseas operations.
