We noticed this morning that cabelas in canada is selling leica products with US$ pricing. That means, with 1.26 rate and with margins normally there, they are selling at 15% BELOW COST! Hard to compete with that .

I am sure it may make some decisions more contentious, but an increase of that percentage will not dissuade everyone
Get it now as prices will rise 25 percent with a sinking dollar... Too bad wages don't follow suit!
Sellers have to find more suppliers from countries that will deal in their own or Canadian $, the ones that think outside the box will benefit! There are some very nice firearms manufactured around the world at reasonable prices that we need to access!!

^This The CAD has done less poorly against the Euro to say the least. It's actually up about 7 or 8 cents since this time last year. In fact, Euro was around 1.50 CAD last year. It was 1.41 today.
Also, major chains (like Cabela's or Bass Pro) may engage in "country pricing" and while that means we often pay more compared to US prices when our dollar is strong it also softens the blow of a weak dollar.

About 5 years ago I was looking at buying a cooper 17hmr with sporter stock and nothing fancy
they were Selling for $$1599.00 now the same gun is $2399.00 but with or low dollar they are saying another $600.00
Increase that's $3000.00.That is for just the basic sporter model and at that price I think cooper priced them selves out
Of the market.
Prices here in Canada are already higher than the US prices. Part of the increase is already built in and always will be. We Canadians always get the short end of the straw. Prices on many firearms that were once considerations for the collection have slowly dropped off due to price increases already. Ie. grand power firearms(once affordable option, now at HK, Sig price points here in Canada)
Soon the customer base will start to shrink and this hobby/sport will only be for the uber rich. I really hope I am wrong, I really love to shoot.
