    **Review** SCORE Slugs vs. Challenger

So I picked up a few boxes of each this last Saturday and promised Kate a review, so here it is.

All shots were taken with a Benelli M4 at an indoor range, loaded to the same amount each time and all fired after putting a few down the pipe to warm it up. The Score slugs did very well, certainly living up to Kate's promise of accuracy.

First up, we have Challenger 2-3/4" Magnum 1-1/8oz slugs ~$2.00 each

First 5 shots at 15 yards

And last 2 shots at 25 yards

Next was the Score SLUG 32 2-3/4", 1-1/8oz slugs ~$0.99 each

First 5 shots at 15 yards

And last 2 shots at 25 yards

Just FYI the stated weight of score slugs includes the large plastic wadding that seats into the base of the lead slug. "1 1/8 oz" slugs are actually a 1 oz lead projectile. I find it a bit misleading but it's still a great product.

I think 50-100 yards is a more accurate assessment. Slugs are best for within 100 yards. Was the M4 iron sights or with optics?

I'm about to try the challengers out of my M4 as well. But I think, for the money, I'll be switching to Score for most of my slug needs. Gonna start buying Challenger buckshot instead of the federal cans too. Little more money, but they're Canadian.

    Iron sights.

Still deciding if I pick up optics for it.

Was this test performed from a rest or free-standing?

Free standing. Sights do look like they need some tuning.

Get around to that and do a rest shoot next time I'm off work.

Thanks for the awesome pictures! Score are very accurate and half the price of Challenger, so for target shooting we recommend Score. Challenger slugs are what I'd pack for bear defense - feel free to add to the debate!
