Hey guys.
Just got a brand new Remington 700 Long Range in 7mm Rem Mag.
What is your professional option on new barrel break in?
Does it need to be done and if so what process do you recommend?
Thanks.

Can't speak from experience but my friend recently bought a remington vtr tactical. He was told to shoot 1 clean shoot 2 clean until 20
When breaking in I do 5 single shots cleaning after each one, then groups of 5 in between patches for next 25 rounds. Then I bang off another 50 before cleaning again. But I also don't have a remington 700...yet. This is just what I do for all my new guns. Now you got me wondering if what I do is adequate...
Edit: Sorry... Didn't realize this was in sponsor forum.
To break in, I load, then shoot, repeat often.
One particular barrel has 3000+ rounds through it and still shoots in the 4's.
I credit it to my break-in procedure .
Very interesting read.

I just use a dry bore snake to remove carbon between shots. Then a shot of lube for storage.
