    I would say that they don't float - I think the tubes are cardboard!

    There are smoke grenades that are specifically made to float. These would be typically used for maritime search & rescue. Having one in your bailout bag on your boat would be a handy idea if you want to be seen by that search & rescue chopper.

    ^^^^This. Alot of us hunters fish. I been looking for orange flares for the boat for distress. Keep us posted, im in for the orange.

    Other distress is red parachute flare, 12 ga.

    they would be orange in colour, proper marine ones would also be Transport Canada Approved. if I remember correctly the buoyant ones burn for 3 minutes and the handheld ones for 1 minute.
