AR500 ARMOUR Testing day with WGT consulting

Here are some photos from our Testing day with WGT consulting
What you see here in the first photo is one of our test plates, which have taken 6 rounds of 762x51 147gr Ball at 10 m 33 feet.
As you can see the heavy spall coating and the correct heattreatment to the steel did very well
No back face deformation, little damage to the strike faceand 0 separations on the anti spall coating, other than where the bullets hit.
Also to be noted the impact of the bullets are very close, all rounds were fired in the space of a few seconds, so we could “stress” theplate.
    Air/ wind temp -10/15

    Second photo shows
    57 rounds of 762x51 147gr Ball at 10 m /33 feet.
Shot from AR10, s by 3 different shooters at the same timewithin 60 seconds, again to “stress” the plate and see how it held up.
As you can see, there is good separation of the heavy antispall coating but you can see where the jacket of a 752x51 is heavily embedded intothe anti spall.
    Again, no back face deformation.

We will post more photos of the standard AR500 plate we shotboth with and without anti spall coating, to show you what happens when youjust use off the shelf AR500 steel.
While Basic off the shelf AR500 steel is a tough product, when shooting at 100m , not so much at 10m.

It's not as bad as you think when you try to pick one up. Distributed in a carrier, it's actually quite comfortable.
