Waited 6 months to finally get my 1911 WW1 Colt back from Epps. I sent it in for glass bead blasting and bluing.
The result was a black as black gets pistol. No hint of blue colour in that mix at all. My complaint to Wes was fruitless as he says "none of there bluing jobs result in the dark blue/black finish and no one has complained yet.
I have used the wipe on cold paste on other guns and this Epps bluing appears no better than it but cost $250 plus postage(x2) instead of $20 for the cold blue tube.

Wes has always been straight with me, I've dealt with him since he has been at the helm. -
I had Epps blue a Makarov slide for me a while ago and was very pleased with the result. It was quite dark as well but a high polished blue rather than the matte that bead blasting produces, so that could make a difference.

When are people like you going to learn, when you do the volume that epps does you are going to have some people who you cant satisfy. You havent even seen a pic and already have a comment, not for the op, but for the everyone should run away guy.

Perhaps a med polish instead of bead blast would have come out more to your liking.
