Well, if I were a betting man I'd wager NS will be easier to persuade than parliament would be

Agreed! I think the chances of the government changing this law is slim to none. There would not be enough of a "political gain," to warrant it.

Exactly. Frankly it would only be a political negative. unfortunate but that is the reality. I'm still hoping for an easier wilderness carry process for restricteds but I know that is a pipedream too.

+1 get rid of bs 4" law is best in a sane world.

Back to topic. Luv a restricted 625 performance center.
Revolvers RULE; remember that next time you BEND over to pick up brass OR ejected brass pings off the precision gear.
Looking for a car pool buddy for weekly weekday trips from Burnaby to POCO. Better yet I'll drive weekly and you take me hunting.

I would like a s&w 617 in 4.2 inch barrel the 6 inch barrel is front heavy the 4.2 would be more balanced.

First of all we cannot count on the conservatives to solve our gun class problems. It's just a non starter and they have become the very government they complained about while in opposition. It took the conservatives 18 months to end the long gun registry after failing twice to support 2 conservative private members bills to do so. The conservatives will be lucky to get bill C42 passed before the summer recess.
Secondly, making 4.2" barrelled revolvers for the tiny Canadian market comes down to production volume. My estimate is that S&W must make at least 1000 or 2000 of the desired model for it to be feasible. If you really want a custom 4.2" gun, call the Performance Center & they will make you one...

Count me in for a 4.25" 625, I still kick myself for selling my 5"625.

It would be great also if Smith & Wesson brought back the original target style wood grips on their revolvers. The wood grips on my new 586 is too narrow and doesn't feel right in my hands.

Considering S&W profits are down, one would think that any market would be an important one for them to expand their offerings in.

I've no idea why 4.25" handguns are such a problem for Americans to standardize on to begin with, but that's their business. It certainly doesn't seem to be hurting Ruger to build everything above 4" to that little extra length to serve both markets.

This thread isn't for people who order one off custom guns, pay the premium price for them, and more on top to get them imported. It's about asking a distributor if they would again do what they did before, and to generate some ideas for what the market here would like to see in regular old production revolvers.
