I actually thought some upgrades were available through some dealers (Tactical Imports had some upgrade parts for the MR223 and MR308) but not sure if we'll get a 10" barrel upper.

The German government is not going to , and never will, allow military weapons to be exported for commercial sale to civilian, especially with the super left wing parties controlling defence export in the government. The chance of seeing HK 416 on dealers' shelves is zero. There are odd balls showing up here and there, but they are never exported for commercial sale in their original purposes.

Most likely we will see the new MR223A3 at one point. They are essentially the A5 without the adjustable gas block, with heavy bbl and 2-stage match trigger. Just take the barrel to the gunsmith and turn it down by 0.15" if that bothers you - and you will get pretty much the same thing as the A5.

Also, HK does their civi guns in runs. Go check out the European gun stores and you can pretty much see what it is going to be available.
