Buy the really expensive rifle you always wanted, because all the cheap guns you'll buy add up to more in the end

So buying say a XCR as a first rifle isn't the equivalent of buying a 600cc SS as your first motorcycle?

Spend the money on a few good quality guns, and not cheap crappy guns.

And when it comes to ammo, follow the saying "buy it cheap, stack it deep."

Cool, good to know it's worth it to buy quality to start with.

Here's what I learned in short order:

Buy a shotgun that fits you and you will always like shooting it. Get a few different gauges and you're set for anything

New doesn't always mean better. Also, more expensive isn't ALWAYS better, but in general with guns, you get what you pay for (though some cheaper shotguns still do the job)

Buy good quality scopes from the start

As stated, buy the nice rifle you want from the start - the others will never mean as much

Everyone has their opinions - buy what you like, not what others say you should

Learn to work on every gun you own.

Buy restricted rifles and pistols now in case they get prohibited later so you'll have the chance of being grandfathered. Really wish I had bought a cheap short barrelled pistol before so I'd have my prohib status now. Get yourself a cheap AR lower now and have it registered whether you ever buy an upper or build a complete gun.
