    Mosin nagant 91/30 bayonet question.

    Hey guys!

I just got my nice mosin nagant today, but the bayonet is upside down, and very very stiff, it's actually stuck but with the tip facing downward.

How to get it off is my question. I know I need to press the spring/lever but should I use a rubber hammer to get it off or something?

    Thanks, Matt.

Tap it off with a wood block, then use sandpaper wrapped around wood dowel to sand inside of bayonet socket.
Buy em cheap, stack em deep!

I'm thinking (hoping?) when he used the term 'drift', he was suggesting using the tool, a drift (punch), to get it off.

I thought he might be suggesting you fire it several times and it would loosen.

This SHOULD be in a 91/30 sticky!

Spray a bit of oil in between the socket and barrel, it'll slide off quick enough with a bit of wiggling.

Tap it off with a block of wood. The 91/30 bayonet was never made to readily remove in the field. An infantry rifle was supposed to have the bayonet affixed at all times other than storage. If you desire to easily remove it, just take a bit of sandpaper on a round dowel and ream the inside of the bayonet.
