m4 does not need a new spring, as the one the gun comes with is a full length spring crammed into chopped mag tube.
you will feel you m4 nicer to load when you have our mag tube installed.

you could add a +1 nova mag tube and that should get you another 1 rounds for 2 3/4 ammo but it will stick out pass the muzzle about 2 inch.
