I've been looking for the tow-tone black/flat dark earth M&P9 (non-vtac) for over two years now. For some reason no one seems interested in bringing them into Canada though. Other than possible ITAR restrictions, I can't seen why not. Even the carbon fibre version has been brought in, and those are more expensive.

Why would you want a thumb safety on a m&p? Just a waste of time

Ive got one on my M&p .22. Doesn't bother me. However my 9mm doesn't have one and I prefer it...... Might be because it makes a louder bang though!

The M&P 22 is hammer fired, full cocked...hence the hammer safety, All other M&Ps are striker fired, with 98% cock...no need for a safety there.

    Hey Sinasta,

I went on a quest for an M&P9 with the thumb safety several months ago as well. Was able to speak directly with distributors due to some industry connections I have and was basically told none in Canada, none in the near future, probably not in the far future. The reason I was given is because S&W has M&P9s in the 17 round and 10 round versions and though the only difference is mags, distributors will only bring in the models with SKUs associated with 10 rounders... and the one with thumb safety is only available with 17 round mags. Basically they said the mags it comes with from factory are "attached" to the gun in terms of import so they can't (or won't?) just bring in the gun and pin/swap mags.

Good luck anyway, I'm still open to finding an M&P9 with thumb safety as well.
