Thanks, GP Tactical, I just received my Colt IUR and don't see any blemishes.
Really great service guys. I ordered on a Saturday and it was shipped on the same Saturday.
Most dealers you're lucky if they ship in 1 - 2 weeks.

Could someone tell me the purpose of the large bosses with holes on both sides of the stock?
As you can probably tell this is only my second AR15.
You can see them in the picture below.

Thanks. Figured it out. Do they need to have sling swivels attached (i.e., will they rust without them)?
I won't likely do any running around with the gun so don't need a sling.

Nope, just another option for attaching to. I honestly wish they weren't there, I don't think I'll be using them either for mine so they're just ugly holes for now!

Is there any chance of these in 10 or 11.5"? Or is it possible to swap out the barrel?

Good thing I ordered mine last night. Hope it doesn't take long to get to Edson! Can't wait to get some load development done for all the matches going on next year.

I'm not a Colt expert but I don't know of them making anything that short.
I've seen the 15.7" and 20" but nothing else from them any shorter.
I've been told by experts that the AR's reliability is adversely affected by shorter barrels because the gun was designed to work best with long barrels.
