not to be a downer but that wood is pretty boring for that massive price tag. look at a winchester supergrade or a regular offering from Sako for that price point for amazingly better grain walnut. Beauty is in the eye though, and I prefer a thick dark burly beauty to some standard grain any day.

That rifle was #3....The third one in the row of rifles, not the third best wood. The three I had to pick from were all spectacular and a lot of people voted each of the three as the 'best wood'....so clearly no losers in the lot.

The accuracy is astounding and the Fortner action is a piece of art. If you are left handed, figure out a way to put this in your safe, you won't regret it. Peoples jaws will drop when you show them.

I shot seven types of ammo at 50 yards, three 5 shot groups with each. I measured and averaged everything and it came out to .450" for all 21 groups. There were two types of ammo mine did not like, so averaging the remaining 15 groups gave me an average of .375".....all this with a dirty barrel and no break-in in a 10-20mph cross wind.

Nice piece of walnut but the rest of the rifle (1727 in general) is hideous imo.
