    Kaboom Question

So I just received my free Kaboom Binary Explosive targets from the black friday sale (Thanks btw!) and I was wondering if anyone has some info on what does and does not reliably detonate them. I have read that 7.62x39 works, but isn't reliable. What about cartridges like .17HMR?

Thanks again Canada Ammo, I have a lot of new goodies from you this year!

I've never had an issue with 7.62x39 working. Probably won't work too far out though.

I tried .17hmr and it does work on KA-BOOM at 100yards.
However it does not work on Tannerite at 100yards..but works at 75 yards..

I second what Alberta John said, Tannerite at 70 not 100, kaboom at 100 with the 17 hmr, more fun to hit it with the rimfire, get to see the boom over the recoil.

Thanks all for the feedback. I forgot about my thread lol

Wondering if a .22cal pellet fired with a .22ramset Yellow power would do it? They are flying at around 2800fps. The accuracy is poor past 25 yards, soooo the danger factor might be high though

Hahaha, I agree. I wouldn't do it because of the distance that I would need to be in order to have a chance at actually hitting the Kaboom. I have fired the pellets through my single shot cooey and I have to say that it has some interesting terminal ballistics

I've had more problems than I'd like to admit detonating Kaboom at 80 yards with 7.62x39 using Norinco FMJ. A lot of partial dets - ranging from a small poof to a boom about 1/4 of what we were getting in the summer. I'm not sure if the cold factors in, but our process hasn't changed. After mixing, we tape the bags up to be compact and less chance of hitting dead space. If I can track down a buddy with a .17hmr, I'll be more than happy to give it a shot. Kaboom has been sitting in storage until I figure out what it takes to detonate properly like it used to.
