Took my new shotgun to the range today. Ran like a champ right out of the box... much to the chagrin of the guys I know who bought alfalfas or derkas.

As suggested, I put the heavy load gas ring in and it ran my federal XM127 00 buck through it 100%. It also ran all of my other ammo that I brought with me (federal and challenger target ammo) 100%.

Also tried the light load gas ring with the target ammo, and as expected: it ran everything 100%

The only downsides I've noted so far:

    - If you put the gun on a table with the action locked open and ejection port up (ie: bolt release down), the bolt release is so oversized and awesome that it will release the bolt. You need to prop it up so the gun isn't resting on the bolt release when putting it on a the table (or put a chamber flag in it and let the bolt come forward)

    - The chokes and iron sights started to come loose after a few rounds, but the irons were only hand tight and I didn't really give the choke that much of a tighten. I re-tightened both and they were fine for the rest of the day. The irons could probably use some blue locktite and I'll probably give the chokes a bit more oomph when tightening next time.

Completely happy with my purchase. Extremely happy it didn't require 100+ rounds to break in and start to become almost reliable

What were you using for ammunition and which ring did you have in

Heavy ring. . After 100 rds or so it's running pretty good... likes Remington sluggers. .. my stock is now loose and doesn't collapse any more. Il look at trying to fix it later this week.

Ok, I had mine out on the weekend. I completely took it apart, even the bolt to clean out all the loads of preservative oil in there. I didn't separate the upper from the lower though, just crammed paper towel way down in there to sop up most of the oil. Then I gave everything a light wipe with frog lube and put some frog lube paste on the bolt friction areas and inside the bolt carrier guides inside the receiver. I installed the heavy gas ring and left the cylinder choke in it and away I went.

First up was 45 rounds of the cheap Winchester 2 3/4" 1 oz. slugs ----- Perfect operation for all of them. This baby has some kick!
Second up was a box of Remington Sportsman 3" #2's steel shot ----- Perfect operation for all of them.
Third up was 50 rounds of cheap Winchester 2 3/4" #2 Lead shot ----- Perfect operation for all of them.

I couldn't find any of my target loads to try out, but I'm pretty sure after that day, that with the light ring installed they will function well.

Love it!!! It should make a great Deer shotgun!

Had mine out over the weekend. First box was Winchester Super X upland game, high brass 71/2. No issues with this ammo. One of my 5 round mags won't feed the last shell though hopefully that works itself out. One box of Winchester Super X rifled slugs. No issues...lots of kick!

Tried target ammo with heavy ring. Would not cycle. Had two other rifles with me so didn't change the ring to try that ammo. I will try it another day.

Had my Trulock tactical choke installed. Worked perfectly.

Update to my previous post. Finally got some steel shot though it today. No hicups at all. #4, #2, BB in 2-3/4 and #2, BB in 3 inch all ran 100%. Just a handful of various brands. Couldn't be happier.
