Technically yes, because even .50 bmg steel core fmj does no noticeable damage to our 1/2" targets even at 150 meters and because of the distinct forward angle the vast majority of spawling and steel cores are deposited directly into the ground below the target. How ever for liability purposes we advise not to shoot steel core ammunition because the core does not disintegrate the way the rest of the bullet does. That being said I have personally shot 10,000 rounds +/- into these targets and have never seen a round that hit the target result in a steel core coming back at me. It is much safer to hit the target then it is to miss and hit rocks or something in the background.
