You may have noticed that the "(Store Pickup Only!)" labels on our rimfire as well as centerfire pistol & rifle ammunition have disappeared! As of this week Al Flaherty's has begun accepting mail orders through our website for ammo!





In order to do so we have to stick to some specific guidelines outlined on our Ammunition Shipping Policies page, but as of now we can ship ammunition all over Canada! Because of the weight, dimensions, and value of these products, we are forced to limit shipments to a maximum volume to limit shipping costs.

We at Al Flaherty's hope that as time goes by we will be able to relax these volume restrictions in order to help shooters all over Canada fill their magazines!

After some experimentation we have refined our ammunition shipping policies! The system of individual volumes of ammunition for shipping has proven to be excessively complicated, and more than a few times has cost us money to ship the products, or in some extreme cases forced us to cancel orders due to extreme extended areas.

Our new simplified ammo policies are as follows;

The General Shipping Guidelines (Still Current as of June 17th, 2016)

• Ammo will be shipped via our UPS account with tracking & an 18+ signature on arrival
• Ammo must be shipped to a physical address, no post office boxes or equivalents
• Per Ontario provincial laws we are required to log ammunition sales, for this we need your PAL & Date of Birth which can be entered on the individual ammunition pages
• Ammo sales are final, no refunds or exchanges
• If the address requested for shipping is not associated with the PAL we will need to verify the details before shipping
• Ammunition orders can not be shipped with firearms and must be ordered separately
• No international shipments, regrettably we can not ship to the USA

Shipping Restrictions (Simplified Rules as of June 17th, 2016)

• Ammunition is shipped with tracking, insurance, and 18+ signature on arrival
• By law ammunition may not be shipped by aircraft, all ammo will be shipped by ground service
• Minimum product value for shipping ammunition orders must be $150.00 ($18.00 base shipping)*, mixed product orders will be accepted (excluding firearms)
• Extreme extended service areas may require extra charges due to high carrier fees, in these cases we will notify you and offer the best pricing we can for the shipping, if you desire a quote in advance submit your order by email to us without your credit card information and we can mock up the charges for you
• Ammunition may not under any condition be shipped with a firearm, firearms must be ordered separately
• Address may not be a PO Box or unattended location, must be a physical address
• Shotgun sporting clay style ammunition is exempt from shipping due to weight & pricing. Drop shipping is available for orders over 150 cases (37500 shells), contact us at info@alflahertys.com for details

*If your order is under this threshold, we can charge a small extra fee after the order to cover the base costs of shipping your products.

What's this about logging ammo sales? Are you saying you are required by law to record the PAL of every customer who buys ammo, with details of what/how much is purchased? Does this info make it back to the government at some point?

Record keeping
4. (1) A person who holds a licence issued under subsection 56 (1) of the Firearms Act (Canada) to carry on a business that involves the sale of ammunition shall keep a record of the following information for all ammunition sales:

1. The date and time of the purchase.

2. The name, age and address of the purchaser.

3. The type of identification and permit produced and their serial numbers.*

4. The calibre and quantity of ammunition purchased. 1994, c. 20, s. 4 (1); 2009, c. 33, Sched. 9, s. 1 (4).

Inspection of records
(2) The chief firearms officer for Ontario, designated under the Firearms Act (Canada), or any person authorized by him or her for the purposes of this section, may conduct an inspection of the records required to be kept under subsection (1). 1994, c. 20, s. 4 (2); 2009, c. 33, Sched. 9, s. 1 (5).

Well, in this case the gentleman told the police it was the only box he bought, and when they came here it was clear it wasn't.

Went to check shipping costs and PAL/DOB are required before I can seeing shipping. Fine if I'm definitely buying. Definitely not fine for price comparison shopping.

Put an X in those fields if you don't want to provide it, sadly it's required to keep people without licenses from trying to buy off the site, which unfortunately used to happen all the time before we added the fields

If you had a few items you wanted to buy and didn't want to enter your card repeatedly you could do this, and then provide your PAL/DOB in the "special instructions" section so we can check it that way
