Perhaps. Although the UMP is a named prohibited firearm and the semi-auto only version of that, called the USC, in .45acp is available as a restricted firearm to the civilian market in Canada. There could be precedent, hence the inquiry into North Sylva.

What? The UMP is only prohibited as a fully automatic firearm.

There are semi-auto Police models in Canada as Restricted firearms. Same as there are semi-auto H&K G-36's in Canada as restricted and non-restricted dependent on barrel length. There are also one or two MP7's in semi-only.

Most of those guns are hitting the 5-figure range for collector prices.

Semi only ump are restricted. G36 based on barrel length are non res or restricted.

This I suspect will be classified as a prohib. Unless it is classified specifically as a pistol. Then it might sneak through.

Actually you may have a better shot at getting it through as a SBR (short barrelled rifle) like TP9. After all the MP5K in its initial offering ( as was deemed prohib) was configured as a "pistol" with no stock. If this was offered with a stock and limited to 5 rounds would make a better argument. Needless to say it won't be full auto and couldn't be made so easily.

Heckler and Koch fans rejoice! H&K company has been listening to you. A Document received by TFB, dated a week ago, show that Heckler & Koch GmbH (Germany) applied to Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) to sell a semi-automatic version of the famous H&K MP5K and H&K MP5SD on the civilian market. The application was approved by the Police with some caveats. The new guns are called the HK SP5k and HK SC5SD.
