Yes, it's amazing how much "horror and awe" a black gun gets. Like it's a nuclear weapon or something.
I like to show people a pic of a standard Ruger 10-22 next to an SR-22 carbine, and tell them that it's the same gun: "Whaaaaaa?"

The Front sight, is it a gas block or just for looks?
Will a standard ar-15 gas block work?

That is not gas block or gas tube, it is pin that lines up the hand guard.
So if we want to go with folding BUIS we can cut off the front sight and leave the alignment pin and rings?
