With a rifle, I generally see the difference in upgrades whether it be a graded stock, carbon fiber barrel etc. Where does the money go in these 1911's? Same old same old just more hand finishing? Please, let the House of 1911's enlighten me
Just my thoughts- As there are five master gunsmiths producing 10-12 pistols a month that means they are likely spending two weeks working on each one. Assuming they are making at least $50K a year, in labour alone that would be somewhere in the region of $1,000-$2,000 per man per week. The difference between a mass produced gun vs a real professional work like these might not be visible at first, but when you really start looking the attention to detail is astonishing.

BTW, I have no skin in this game- I have other serious money haemorrhaging projects killing me.

A nice 1911 should be on everyone's list.

I like Wanstalls a lot but I just don't get the prices. I get the quality and would pay for that but at those prices the guns should also look the part. People lost their sh*t when the JJFU guns went for sale in Canada and they truly were customs as well as works of art.

I hope the local 1911 Custom builder doesn't jack his prices up before I get to buy one.

8K for a 1911, who is the target demographic? The 19 year old Asian kid driving a $300,000 car in Vancouver with a N in the rear window?
