    First gun recs

    Hey everyone,

I'm looking to get into shooting again and will be buying a rifle later this summer. However, I haven't decided on what to get yet. I'd like to get something that is on the dirt cheap side, easy to maintain and doesn't eat through my budget with ammo costs. I've shot .22 before and I'm not really interested in that. Right now I'm eyeing an SKS, which fits pretty much all of these categories. A Mosin looks to be even cheaper but I'm iffy on that; I've heard the maintenance can be pretty bad to deal with. Are those pretty much my only options under about $300?

    Thanks!

Hey! good to hear you are getting into the sport again! well those are some popular options! I have 2 Mosins and after shooting them cleaning isn't so bad. if you are not interested in the .22 I would say that the sks would give you the most bang for your buck.......but if you wanted a good hunter look into some sporter Lee Enfield's or the entry level Bolt guns from savage and Ruger!
