If you know the frequency of your kenwood then yes. A nice feature on these is you can key in nearly any valid frequency you want. I have one with the large battery pack and it will last a very long time depending how much your transmitting/receiving. I backup what a few others are saying about the distance too, I have had them working up to 12 to 13km on hilly thick bushed logging roads.
Are there any car chargers available for this radio?
Gonna need a few of these
Buyer pays shipping and insurance. Be specific about what you want.

I bought theses radios 1 month ago. The are ham radios and you can't operate them without a ham liscence.
But you can operate gmrs channels in low power 1W legally. You can operate gmrs channel up to 2w but uv5-rare hi- low/5w-1w only. Gmrs channels in Canada don't need a liscence, but it's different in USA.
Frs channels are limited to 0.5W so can't legally be operated on theses radio .
It's possible to listen polices channels but be careful to not push the talk button as its illegal to disrupt them. Theses radios are fully capable to communicate with them.
They are a little complicated to configurate, even with YouTube, but it's possible after a few videos. Once configuration done, they are nice walkie talkies, scanner fm receiver (radio) and great shtf communication gear.

So if my employer has a license for the frequency channel which we use for work & we do, can I run this radio on our frequency channel?

You'll have to program the radio on the frequency that the license is authorized and verify the max power allowed. You can't operate on any frequency. Industry Canada regulate radio communications.
