I didn't realize any XCR's were short stroke pistons.

Yup, the XCR-M is shot stroke a la M14 variety and the XCR-L is long stroke a la AK.

Looking at the ambidextrous mag release with envy. Is it available as an upgrade/update for an older XCR-L?

The brake is very effective, and surprisingly not that loud, same can be said for the XCR-L in 7.62x39...

That is the latest version of the brake on the XCR-M. It is different that previous models. It works very well

We are sold out, more on order hopefully showing up soon. Price is $99 for them. They are very nice and allow the use of a PRS or A2 stock requiring the rifle length gas tube. They are a very nicely made product. If you would like one either call us and get on a back order or email sales@wolverinesupplies.com and get put on the back order for them.

Just on side note, Wolverine Supplies is the exclusive importer for DI Optics in Canada. They make an incredibly fine product, so if you're interested shoot us an email at sales@wolverinesupplies.com
