I was wondering the same thing. Thanks. Yes, for the gas/piston what do people do? I thought piston systems were relatively care free vs. all the direct impingent stuff I read.

Sure, if you are at war - in the desert, keep it dry to prevent failures. But stored in your safe with the occasional range trip-clean, oil and wipe.

I keep mine basically dry, I use a solvent / oil to clean it up and then lightly wipe it off. Probably a small film left on it... Apparently enough to keep rust like this off. Never any malfunctions from it.

How are you guys not cleaning after shooting? I take my guns completely apart and clean thoroughly after every use.
Its how we were taught to do it in the army and it stuck with me. Every firearm must be cleaned and lubed at all times when your life depends on it.

We are, as civilian, not there yet, but sooner or later this might be a good advice to keep in mind !!!

A light coat of oil is perfectly fine for the Tavors gas system. Like the others said oil it a bit and then wipe it down.

OP that doesn't look like corrosion from ammo to me. Clean it up and give the gas system a bit of an oil and wipe down. Shoot some more of the Tula through it and see what happens.
