I think this probably sums up what you may get from JRA. My M1 wouldn't cycle out of the box, but after meticulously inspecting, cleaning, and greasing things are 100%. The gas port was partially plugged. The spring was rusty. Some parts required minor adjusting. Realistically, you have an entirely reparked rifle in a brand new stock for $400 more than a decent non-refinshed one would cost you. It's not a turn-key "brand new" M1, but ultimately worth the price.
