I have a well used Breda, with a bore that shows some wear, and it shoots into an inch at 100m benched. I also have a Beretta with a basically new VAR barrel that shoots around 2 inches benched.
A little wear doesn't mean much with these rifles, and may shoot better then a new Criterion barrel. They will also hold value better with a USGI barrel then with a commercial barrel.

Whew... I saw that Hitzy had posted here and got worried for a second.

    But everything is ok.

There are always exceptions to the rule but in general a barrel with only 50-75% of its life left is not going to outshoot a new barrel and the Criterions are very good quality barrels. Similarly, these guns are not genuine GI refurbs anyway so I have a hard time believing someone will pay more for one with a semi shot out GI barrel than they would for one with a new near good quality aftermarket barrel. YMMV.

Not for me! Deposit sent! This is not a bad price considering the CDN dollars position right now. Thanks for bringing these in!

James River do a good job on these guns.... they know what they are doing.
If the Koreans even come in, they will be priced the same and have various levels of wear and tear and look nowhere nearly as nice as these rifles.
You or anyone else could have the barrel swapped out for a new Criterion, or even a .308 barrel for that matter and it wouldn't add too much once you sell the USGI barrel.

A new Criterion barrel is $250 US plus exchange plus shipping plus tax plus whatever an importer is going to charge to bring it in. Add the cost of having a gunsmith install it and I guarantee you're adding at least $500-600 to the cost of the JRA with a GI barrel. You'll be lucky to recoup $200 of that on the used GI so you're in a bare minimum of $2500. Just can't justify that that no matter how badly I want a Garand.
