i shoot surplus corrosive 762 out of my nea pdw 7.5". first, my nea has been awesome! don't be scared of surplus 762. i clean it in my pdw after every session, but it is not that dirty as i was told it would be. but perhaps because my barrel is 7.5" and everything gets blown out.

Yes. If you're shooting surplus ammo with hard primers, you may want to swap out the standard hammer spring for a heavy hammer spring.

+1 for the heavy hammer spring, when I first started shooting my x39 AR every other round was a misfire cause of the hard primers.

so I don't have to switch out lower receivers? Will a heavier hammer spring affect it when I switch back to 5.56/.223 upper?

I never have and have had no issues.

That said I only ran maybe a dozen mags through mine then just build up one of my other lowers as a dedicated 5.56 rifle and left this one as a 7.62x39

No you don't have to switch lowers and having a heavy hammer spring will only make your trigger pull a little heavier. No need to be swapping springs in and out.
