If you set the UHF channels to the 469Mhz range you can use the standard FRS channels. Then others in your group who have the "walmart" or Canadian tire radios can communicate with you.the retail ones are only 1watt so the Baofeng range is much greater.

You are correct my bad 462.56mz is typically FRS1 for example. The charts can be easily found on line.

You are correct my bad 462.56mz is typically FRS1 for example. The charts can be easily found on line.

You can even program in the CTCSS privacy codes in order to access the "sub-channels". Much easier to do all this with the software than through the radio interface, in my experience.
