someone posted that in the FRT table the NR are made in Israel. So I guess we will just be getting US restricted ones for now :-(

Tar is just being phased out in preference of the Micro Tavor (x95) as it is more compact in true military form. Basically the redesign relocated the charging handle further back so they could shorten the polymer body to run a shorter barrel yet.
In civilian form there is no advantage really as the polymer body has been extended to cover up the US compliant 16" barrel that looked horrendously long on the standard mil design. For civy use it just a different manual of arms. Not to mention the Civy x95 has had some questionable accuracy results.

What is the milspec barrel length? Guessing around 11"? Imagine another 7.6" onto that.
As Dilli said, you'll need an aftermarket foreend to make it look balanced, so more cost incurred.
