As much as the AR style release is appealing, i actually prefer the Tavor manual of arms, as is. AR's and the like have never really floated my boat, but the TAVOR just rings my bell.

Define milspec? They are all made by the same manufacture (with the exception of Fort), just by 2 different assembly locations.

The tavor''s patent has not ran out unlike the AR which resaulted in the various tolerance /design issues and the term "Milspec"

I concur on the first half, but I don't think there is a thing wrong with this iteration either. I will buy a NR one when it comes, however it certainly won't be replacing my standard Tar-21

someone posted that in the FRT table the NR are made in Israel. So I guess we will just be getting US restricted ones for now :-(

The IDF adopted the x95 as the main future service rifle not the TAR right?
The TAR is relegated for reserve forces?

Tar is just being phased out in preference of the Micro Tavor (x95) as it is more compact in true military form. Basically the redesign relocated the charging handle further back so they could shorten the polymer body to run a shorter barrel yet.

In civilian form there is no advantage really as the polymer body has been extended to cover up the US compliant 16" barrel that looked horrendously long on the standard mil design. For civy use it just a different manual of arms. Not to mention the Civy x95 has had some questionable accuracy results.

What is the milspec barrel length? Guessing around 11"? Imagine another 7.6" onto that.
As Dilli said, you'll need an aftermarket foreend to make it look balanced, so more cost incurred.
