Prices and quality vary in SUP's and you really do get what you pay for with them.

For example you can get one at a box store and pay under $800 for a hard board but the weight will be 60lbs+ which makes it hard to transport/carry

If you're in the $1400 + price range you'll get one around 36lbs

In the $1800 + price range you can get down to 24lbs in the carbon fiber.

Hard boards are the way to go unless you want to transport it in a small car or want the ultimate in durability, then go with an inflatable. Again, you get what you pay for in these as well.
