There were pre-'45 disintegrating metal links for Browning guns. The uncertainty is when the current production links for 7.62x51 ammunition are used. Because the 7.62x51 is obviously post-'45, the links are also. AFAIK, there is no hard and fast ruling on the issue, though.
Is it not also debatable whether or not a disintegrating link, regardless of when designed, can be limited at all?
The regs refer to fabric and metal "belts". Nowhere is link mentioned. Personally I think they're 1 round magazines that are joined together, like duct-taping two mags together.
To stay on topic, does TSE have any accesories in stock like more belts, spare parts, etc?
Whatever
I think the 'belt' ruling covers links and belt chains. post-'45 links/chain would be 5 rounds, but like the MG34's and MG42's, their links are a-okay for... well... no limit technically. The only reason the M1919/M1917's are limited to 250 rounds is because that was the biggest belt used in general production approved by RCMP. The links would, in theory, have no length limit (sure 8mm came in 50 and 75 round drums and 250 round link belts etc., but as they have no 'end', only a 'beginning' starter tab, there is nothing to differentiate between the two without a hard ruling of 'only X rounds' by any kind of law).
Also OT question, do you fellows at the TSE have spare parts and accessories for the M1919's? I wouldn't mind getting a tripod for my A4 (even without T&E!)
Not trying to be pedantic, but for future error prevention, there is technically a limit to the cloth belts. The longest belt for the .30 cal Brownings, by original design, was the 250 round belt. If you sewed two 250's together, you'd be modifying the magazine, which as we all know will cause eleven orphanages to spontaneously burst into flames.
As an aside; Nice guns! Gotta love the non-stop stares when you bring out the .30 calibre family to the range.
Disintegrating links are NOT mentioned in the magazine regs.
Whatever
7.62X51 links are post 1945 design 3006 liks are pre 1945 .
They are not the same .
Pre-orders are horrible for everyone involved. They never go smooth. We will not be doing a pre-order to bankroll this project.
