Custom Reloading Service Sponsors Speed Steel at Mission Rod and Gun

Custom Reloading Service Inc. is a proud sponsor of Speed Steel at Mission Rod and Gun.

Why we support this shoot so much?. It is a venue that novice shooters get a chance to compete with no special training. You show up on the match date with $15 and your firearm then your in. No club membership is required and Mission rod and Gun encourages people from outside the club to attend. Speed Steel has had a good turn out of women and quite a few young adults supervised by there Fathers.

How we sponsor the match? We supply 2 gift certificates that are raffled off to all the competitors. One for the morning shoot and one for the afternoon shoot. There is no prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. This way everybody has a chance of coming away with something. The shooter/ competitor can be more concerned with having fun, safety and learning.

How the match works? The competitor shoots 5 stages, 6 times each. They take the best 5 times from each stage. At each stage there is 5 targets. 4 white targets and 1 black stop plate. Each string is started at the tone of a shot timer. The start position for the shooter is at the low ready position and at a static position, so no holster or special training is required. At the end of the shoot the shooters time is added up and the lowest time in your class wins. The shooters only compete against the people shooting the same class of firearm. The different classes this match has is: Stock Pistol, Stock Revolver, Revolver Plus(7or more). Unlimited Revolver(optics-comp), Unlimited Pistol(optics-comp), 22 Carbine(10/22), Centerfire Pistol Carbine, Law Enforcement(double action only), 22 Pistol , Ect…

The round count for Speed Steel is around 400. If you shoot the match perfectly the minimum round count is 150, As you know every body misses. You will get lots of practice and there is a lot of support from your fellow shooters. Mission Rod and Gun Club has all the dates for Speed Steel on the calendar on there web site. There is contact information on the web site plus it is wise to pre register as there matches fill up fast. Speed Steel runs 2 shoots on the day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. There is food services available on site for a nice hot sit down meal so you do not have to pack a lunch.

revolver users, you will find it helpful to bring speed loaders but that's just a convenience.
