There was talk last year of belt fed Vz59s coming in... X54R.
I almost sold a bunch if guns to buy one, but I think they stalled out.

We pretty well can guess that they threated to take 10-20 years to test and approve a sample gun, and suggested 2546 modifications that had to be done. In other words, invented a NO without saying as much.

The 59 fell under the Prime Objectives of the RCMP:
1. Lobby for registration and banning of guns.
2. Stop importation of guns by throwing up bureaucratic barriers and refusing to FaRT.
3. Reclassify guns in the system to ban them.
Chances are if it made it, they'd Objective 3 it anyway.
