Went out to badger to take a look at a few things thursday march 3, very cool store. I was allowed to handle almost everything in the store, including a couple of real nice antiques :D Spent a fair bit of time out there and am very happy with the service again(got my m4 before christmas from badger). I originally intended just to have a look at the chiappa upper in .22lr but i ended up leaving with one for a great price. Badger is now my store of choice as i have got the best service out of any firearms store i have ever visited.
If anyone is curious about the chiappa m4 upper it is a great product. The frame is plastic but it does not feel cheap. It is almost identical in size to my norinco .223 upper, the barrel thickness is the same. It fits very tight to my norc lower. It had a few burrs on the rail that i scraped off with my fingernail.
Parts interchangeability with my norc upper was pretty good. The charge handle from my norc went into the chiappa but not the other way around as the chiappa handle is not drilled for the gas tube. Hand guards are the same as my norc and either set fit either upper. Ejection door is the same, and is attached to the chiappa upper with a C clip dowel not staked in like my norc.
The stock parts this upper comes with appear to be good as any other but if you want to make this exactly like your centerfire upper and slap on a quad rail and an oversize charge handle there is no reason one couldn't.
Break in was a big PITA, as it said it would be in the instruction booklet. I used federal value pack ammo as it feeds the best in my 10/22. Bring a leatherman cause somehow for the first few mags this thing jams up hard. I put a whole 525rd box through this upper the first time out shooting it, by about half way through the box it was shooting great and not jamming up anymore even with rapid fire.
Long story short, i love the upper as i can now shoot indoors and enjoy cheap ammo. I will buy from badger again, and i would recommend the chiappa upper to anyone over a kit for a .223 upper.
